How quickly will I receive my certificate?

Requests are reviewed 6am–midnight, seven days a week (Sydney time). If approved, your signed certificate is sent by email. Delivery time depends on the assessment and whether the doctor needs more information.

What happens if my request is declined?

If your request is declined, you receive a full refund. You are welcome to make another request, which will be assessed on its own circumstances.

Can I provide the certificate to my employer or institution?

Medigate certificates are issued by AHPRA-registered Australian doctors. Check the documentation and notification requirements of your workplace, school or university, including any special forms they require.

What information do I need to provide?

You will need your personal and contact details, a description of your symptoms, relevant medical history and the dates you are requesting. Carer's certificate requests also ask for details about the person you are caring for.

Do I need to book an appointment or video call?

You start by completing an online assessment without booking an appointment. A doctor reviews the information and may contact you if more information is needed.

Who reviews and approves the certificates?

AHPRA-registered Australian doctors review certificate requests. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval; the doctor decides whether a certificate is appropriate.

Can I request a certificate for work, study or caring responsibilities?

Medigate offers work, study and carer's certificate assessments, with single-day and multi-day options. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
